Parish Council Elections 2025

Polling Day - 1st May 2025

Published: 18 February 2025

Your Parish Council Needs YOU!

Every parish, town, community, and unitary council in Northamptonshire has elections on 1 May 2025. Every existing parish, town, community, and unitary councillor retires. Potential candidates and existing councillors, if they wish to stand for re-election for another 4 year term, will need to submit nomination papers by 4pm on Wednesday 2 April 2025. Completed nomination papers must be delivered by hand to the Returning Officer at Municipal Offices, Bowling Green Road, Kettering, NN15 7QX by the deadline which is 4pm on 2 April 2025.

A number of the existing parish councillors in Aldwincle have served for many years and it’s likely that some will not stand for re-election.  It’s important for local democracy that we have as many new candidates as possible  coming forward to represent their local community, and preferable that there are elections so that parishioners have the opportunity to choose who they would like to represent them.

Aldwincle Parish Council is made up of 7 councillors, working together to improve the village for the benefit of all parishioners. We would like to have a more diverse range of age groups on the council, so whether you’re a starting out on a career, a parent with young children, or someone looking to give back to your community, this could be your chance to give a fresh perspective to making Aldwincle an even better place to live. No experience is needed, lots of training is available to help you to be part of the parish council team.

Nomination Papers

Anyone interested in standing for election must submit a nomination paper during the defined nomination period, which immediately precedes the election. Candidates aiming to become a Councillor for a town or parish need to complete the relevant nomination pack (see below).

The timeframe and deadline for submitting nominations is shown in the Notice of Election below. Prospective candidates should carefully note the submission deadlines and the location of the accepting office. Late submissions will not be accepted under any circumstances.

Nomination packs can be either handwritten or typed, but all signatures must be original (wet signatures).

The original nomination papers must be delivered by hand to the relevant office, as specified in the Notice of Election, before the close of nominations. The Returning Officer will not accept emails or photocopies of the final submission.
