Published: 12 April 2026

The General Drainage Charge (GDC) is a statutory charge that applies to occupiers of agricultural land and buildings in the Anglian area that fall outside Internal Drainage Board (IDB) boundaries. The Local Levy is a local funding source raised through Council Tax and used only within the region. The Environment Agency can require IDBs to contribute money each year through an IDB precept.
