Update: Public Footpath

Wadenhoe - Aldwincle, Public Footpath MC2 & PB11

Published: 2 September 2026

Unfortunately, there is no update at this stage. The legal line of PB11 remains unusable, as it runs directly through marshland and reedbed that cannot be walked safely and is not an area where any practical improvement works could be carried out. Walkers have instead been using the permissive woodland paths, but these are also unsuitable due to a hazardous slope section. As these routes are permissive, we are unable to undertake any works to make them safe. For this reason, both the legal and permissive routes remain closed to the public.

The matter has been passed to the Definitive Map Team for direction, as any long‑term solution, including the possibility of a diversion would need to be considered and progressed by them.

I appreciate that parishioners are keen for clarity, and I will ensure you are updated as soon as further information is available.

Kind regards,

Sarah Cureton
